How to Participate
Our annual Summer Reading Program is a fun way to engage with the Library and read more over the summer!
When: June 20 to Aug. 25, 2025. Prize pickup is from Aug. 25 through the end of the day on Friday, Sept. 12!
Where: Online or on paper.
Who: Any Croton resident of any age.
How: Just track the number of minutes you read.

1. Sign up here! You can log your reading, find book lists, write reviews, and more. ReadSquared even has an app.
OR
2. Email us at summer@crotonfreelibrary.org. Tell us the names and ages of each participant.
Sign up now! Just track the number of minutes you and/or your kids read, using the ReadSquared site or app, or a paper tracker.
To finish the program and get your prize, you need:
- Pre-K (0-4): 240 minutes of reading
- Kids (5-10): 240 minutes of reading
- Tweens & teens (11-17): 360 minutes of reading
- Adults (18+): 480 minutes of reading
Come to our Summer Reading Kickoff on Friday, June 20! After that, you can stop by the Library and ask for one, as long as supplies last.
Logging Your Reading
Use the website or the app! Or you can use our paper tracker — or simply write down the minutes you read each title — and email a photo when you’re done to summer@crotonfreelibrary.org.
Anything and everything! Fiction, nonfiction, comic books, audiobooks, anything you like in any format. Have fun and challenge yourself to try something new!
Yes! You can find many of the schools’ summer reading books on Overdrive and Hoopla.

Completing the Program
If you used a paper tracker, bring it back to the main circulation desk, or take a photo and email it to summer@crotonfreelibrary.org.
If you tracked your minutes online, just sit tight!
Prizes are ready when the program is finished on Aug. 25 -- please check your email for info about picking up your gift certificate starting that day. Prizes will be available until the end of the day on Friday, Sept. 12!
In the meantime, check out our reading recommendations online, or come in and peruse our displays for more suggestions!
A gift certificate to the Blue Pig! Once the program is over on Aug. 25, we will notify all the finishers about picking up their prizes. Everyone has until 5:30pm on Friday, Sept. 12 to pick up their prizes!
Any time during the Library's regular hours, beginning on Monday, Aug. 25! Prizes will be available until 5:30pm on Friday, Sept. 12.
