We were overjoyed to have succeeded in bringing Julia Glass to our library this year. And the joy she brought with her was palpable! The National Book Award winner, amongst many other accolades, came to discuss her latest book, Vigil Harbor. Julia introduces us chapter by chapter to a cast of characters who we come to love, and what happens to them when some strangers come to their bucolic town. Overshadowed by climate change and terrorism, she weaves this all together into a tale both heartwarming and heart-wrenching. Julia is a master raconteur. She is simultaneously stunningly smart and disarmingly down to earth. She had the most hesitant of audience members laughing, and charmed the lot of them! We were wowed by her generosity of spirit and thoroughly entertained by her gift of gab.
