Program Description

Event Details

From the late 1700s to the mid-1900s, the Hudson River brick industry was one of the largest manufacturing industries in New York State—providing bricks to build New York City, towns and villages up and down the Hudson River, and the Croton Aqueduct. By 1860 there were over 88 brickyards on the Hudson, each with its own unique brand mark. Rachel Whitlow, Executive Director of the Haverstraw Brick Museum, will connect historical buildings with the Haverstraw brickyard’s brand marks and take us behind the scenes to the communities that built them.

This free event is sponsored by Croton Friends of History.
