From the Croton Friends of History:
On September 23, 1780, Tarrytown was the site of an event that altered the outcome of the Revolutionary War: the capture of British spy Major John André. Almost immediately, fabrications and fake news sprang up to challenge the facts of the event. This presentation will cover the astounding true story of the capture as well as examine many myths and inaccuracies that persist in popular imagination through today.
Char Weigel is VP for Special Projects for Revolutionary Westchester 250. Formerly chair of the History and Interdisciplinary Departments at The Shipley School and on the board of the Historical Society Serving Sleepy Hollow & Tarrytown, Weigel presents and publishes articles on Westchester County history, and guides walking tours for NY State's Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and The Historical Society.
This is a non-library sponsored event.
