Event Details
Join several Westchester libraries for a Zoom presentation on Sidney Poitier, the first African American actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor! His illustrious career includes films such as Lilies of the Field, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, In the Heat of the Night, and To Sir With Love — just to name a few.
We will celebrate the life of this dignified gentleman who left his home in the Bahamas at the tender age of 14 and evolved into a cultural icon, a great entertainer, an actor, a film director, an entrepreneur, and a respected human and civil rights activist.
Free and open to all. No registration required! Just join the Zoom link below on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 11am.
Presented by St. George Living History Productions, in collaboration with the Chappaqua, Field, Ruth Keeler Memorial, and Yonkers public libraries.
Please note: This is a hybrid program. Participants can go to the Yonkers Public Library for a public viewing or watch from home using your own device.
