Armchair Travels by Lavinia Wiggins and Sharon Kulberg

Lavinia Wiggins and Sharon Kulberg poster on painted landscapes.

Lavinia Wiggins is an artist working in oils, mixed media and collage. A Westchester NY native, her studio is located in Peekskill NY at the Flat Iron Building. Lavinia's love of nature naturally leads her to landscapes, preferring scenes that include water.  People often comment that her work is calm and peaceful.

"During lockdown dreams of travel abound for many.  The safe way is escaping through Google maps, whether to explore the world or plot your destinations for the future.  It's so easy to love Paris or Lake Como so I chose destinations a little further of field.  I love back roads and catching scenes in the moment as the odd Google map streetcar goes by."  Lavina Wiggins website   www.laviniawiggins.com

Sharon Kullberg paints to capture light on trees, or the rich colors on a bird or a moth. She did her undergraduate work in rural DeKalb, Illinois, where she learned to love landscapes of undulating cornfields. Sharon became a printmaker at the fabled Inkling Studio in Portland, Oregon and then attended  Pratt in Brooklyn, which was wonderfully all buildings & noise. She has been painting for over 35 years, earned a BA in Art Studio from Northern Illinois University and an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute and has studied with Andrew Lattimore in Westchester.

"I was intrigued about the idea of traveling the world and painting from Google Maps, but ended up being inspired by images I collected from far away places that I had been or wanted to go."
