Clare Kambhu and Maria Pia Marrella are two very different artists, born almost 37 years apart, who share a bond of friendship and the experience of teaching art to immigrant children in New York City Public Schools.
Teaching in underserved communities has influenced and changed their work conceptually and propelled new investigations in image making. Both artists are impacted by societal, political and personal histories that refer to
back art historical influences. This exhibition celebrates the common bond between two distinct artists’ visions, through the language of painting.
