The Taconic Opera's free New York Opera Conservatory Free Summer Program is back!
The season begins with free offerings from our Young Artist Summer Program. Puccini, the composer of La Bohème and Madama Butterfly, wrote Tosca in 1900 and has become a favorite masterpiece for audiences of all kinds. The opera features the famous aria “Vissi d’arte” and tells a story of love, espionage, and murder. It will be performed four times with four different casts. Tosca is the story of a singer in love with a painter who is harboring political fugitives in Rome while Italy is at war with Napoleon. She is torn between saving her lover or keeping the republic safe. Performed in Italian.
